Adam Lambert Battles Himself In 'Better Than I Know Myself'

Bad-boy Lambert and nice-guy Lambert are at war with each in new clip.

Adam Lambert dropped his new video for his first Trespassing single, "Better Than I Know Myself," on Friday (February 3).

The video takes a look at the two sides of Lambert: a leather-wearing, liquor-swilling bad boy and a sweater-donning, tea-drinking homebody.

During the video, the two personas seem to battle it out in different apartments connected by a clear wall and one oxygen supply.

In the end, as the bad Lambert sets his apartment on fire, killing good-guy Lambert's air supply, the wall breaks down. The good seems to seep into his apartment as he rescues his better half. The video ends with one Lambert, walking down a sun-drenched street, seeming to be at peace with himself.

"It's about the relationship you have with yourself between your dark and light side," Lambert, who will reportedly hit the road with Queen this summer, explained to MTV News. "It's about duality. It's about that balance and finding it and struggling to maintain it and what that means. It's an emotionally complicated video and I hope people are open-minded about it. I thought really hard and long about what was covered in it and what I was trying to say with it."

The video does seem to nod to his "Whataya Want From Me" clip. "It's a cousin to that. ... There is something similar to 'Whataya Want From Me.' I think that domesticated version of myself is my idealistic better version of me," he explained. "It's the me I want to be in my right mind. It's the most happy, content, peaceful, wholesome version of myself."

The clip was directed by Ray Kay (who also worked with Lambert on his "For Your Entertainment" video), and Lambert came up with the treatment with his "Whataya" director, Diane Martel. "I just think visually [Kay's] so great. He's so great. He creates great pictures," he said, adding a big "thank you" to Martel for her help. "It's a big collaboration of a lot of different ideas."

Expression of Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone in Squamous Cell ...

posted by:

Tumor Research

[Abstract]

Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) is a 10 peptide secreted by nerve cells of hypothalamic arcuate nucleus, which combined with GnRH receptor (GnRHR) in the anterior pituitary to stimulate pituitary gonadotropin cells to secrete gonadotropic hormone (GnH). Apart from playing a role in the passage of hypothalamic ? pituitary ? gonadal axis (HPG), GnRH was found in many organizations out of the brain, which plays a role through autocrine / Paracrine Mechanism as an important media combined with other biological factors together to form a complex signal transduction network.GnRH-based autocrine /Paracrine system is also exist in a variety of human tumors.GnRH was found to express in ovarian carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, whether are there GnRH expression in cervical cancer as one of gynecologic malignancies? Currently not very clear. Many studies on GnRH were about the adenocarcinoma cells at home and abroad, there is a few of studies on squamous cell carcinoma. This study is to detect GnRH expression in cervical squamous cell carcinoma by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization method to explore their clinical significance. In this study, we collected 15 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and 10 cases of chronic cervicitis specimens.we detect the expression of GnRH on the level of protein by the method of immunohistochemistry and the expression of GnRH mRNA on the level of nucleic acid by the method of in situ hybridization, and also, compare the differences between the relative content of chronic cervicitis and cervical squamous cell carcinoma through image analysis methods. The expression of GnRH and GnRH mRNA in cervical epithelial tissue of chronic cervicitis were all negative. The expression of GnRH in cancer cells were positive, positive substances located in the cytoplasm of cells, nuclei with light colored or not, the positive rate was 80% (12/15),which has significant difference compared with that of chronic cervicitis (P 0.05).Image analysis showed that the differences of unit relative content of GnRH and GnRHmRNA in cancer and chronic cervicitis organization are significant (P 0.05).The inconsistencies of positive rate in the level of transcription and translation may be caused for the reason:from the positive GnRH mRNA expression of squamous cell carcinoma, we can see the cancer cells can express GnRH by autocrine. GnRH expression was higher than that of GnRH mRNA shows that apart from the autocrine mechanism the tumor may affect the expression of GnRH by paracrine, and other channels. These results indicate that cervical cancer also has its own synthesis of the protein of GnRH, which suggest that GnRH may increase on the surface of squamous cell of cervical cancer or may be involved in the proliferation of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. GnRH may be involved the regulation of cervical squamous cell carcinoma, it needs to be further confirmed whether it will participate in the regulation of the development of cervical cancer. This provides a theoretical basis for GnRH analogues as a medical treatment of cervical cancer. It is not yet clear about the anti-tumor mechanism of GnRH in cervical squamous cell carcinoma, may have a direct inhibitory effect on tumor cell proliferation and promote differentiation, may also induce apoptosis of tumor cells. Cervical cancer treatment increasingly advocate neoadjuvant chemotherapy, GnRHa could prevent gonadal damage caused by chemotherapy. We could choose the anti-cancer target through the use of the expression of GnRH in cancer cells, which is one direction of the treatments of cancer in the future.

KC Woman Drives 600 Miles to Return Lost Dog | fox4kc.com ...

MERRIAM, Kan. ?Twelve hundred miles from home ? a one-year-old Lab/Pit mix dog found in Merriam, Kansas will be returning home.

The one-year-old Lab/Pit mix dog whose family lives in Butte, Mont., was found thanks to a microchip embedded in the dog. And a volunteer has offered to drive Grizz the dog home.

The Heartland Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals Lost Pet and Intake Center accepted Grizz on Wed., Jan 25.

Using standard procedures, the center scanned Grizz for microchip identification and discovered contact information on his owners.

Apparently, someone in Butte, Mont., thought Grizz was a stray and picked him up during a road trip from Seattle to Texas, dropping him off in Kansas at the Heartland SPCA. When the Heartland SPCA contacted the owner, the owner was stunned that Grizz was still alive and well.

?He was very excited but he was also in disbelief that his dog was found all the way over here in Kansas,? said Wendy Blair with the SPCA.

The story gets even better.

Kathy Thies, a longtime Heartland SPCA volunteer, volunteered to drive Grizz half-way home, which amounts to a 600 mile trip to Cheyenne, Wyo.

?Really it all comes down to what goes around, comes around,? Thies said. ?I hope there?s good karma!?

The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and Joe Hinkle with the SPCA says it?s the only reason Grizz is coming home.

?If not for the microchip, we would?ve never been able to find the owner,? Hinkle said. ?The microchip was the only way that we were able to get Grizz home.?

Assange appeals extradition to UK's top court (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) ? WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange appealed to Britain's Supreme Court Wednesday not to extradite him to Sweden over accusations of sex crimes, a move that could push his anti-secrecy website further toward oblivion.

Australian-born Assange, 40, became a worldwide celebrity and infuriated the U.S. government in 2010 when WikiLeaks released secret video footage and thousands of U.S. diplomatic cables about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since then, the scoops have dried up and WikiLeaks has faded from the news headlines, starved of cash by major credit card companies that are refusing to process online donations to it, and bogged down by Assange's protracted legal troubles.

Assange was detained in Britain in December 2010 on a European arrest warrant issued by a Swedish prosecutor after two female former WikiLeaks volunteers accused him of sexual assault.

His lawyers argue that the warrant is invalid because it was issued by a prosecutor rather than a neutral judge or court. He has not been charged in Sweden but is wanted for questioning.

If the Supreme Court in London rejects the argument, he may take his case to the European Court of Human Rights but it is unclear whether that would stop his extradition to Sweden.

"HE SPEAKS TRUTH TO POWER"

A small group of demonstrators gathered outside, braving a freezing morning to show support for Assange, who looked relaxed in a dark grey suit and purple tie as he entered court.

They carried banners with slogans such as "The system punishes whistleblowers to protect its own" and "Free Assange."

"He speaks truth to power. He should be considered a national hero," said Scott Albrecht, a former U.S. soldier turned peace activist.

The Supreme Court hearings will last two days and the court is expected to announce its decision some weeks later.

Assange denies any wrongdoing and has said that the sex accusations, which surfaced at the height of the international furor over WikiLeaks, were an attempt to silence him.

He is convinced that U.S. authorities are looking for a way to go after him in retaliation for WikiLeaks' revelations.

Washington is divided over Assange, with some officials calling for tough action against him to deter would-be leakers and others saying a prosecution would be legally problematic and would give him a boost when he appears headed for irrelevance.

Bradley Manning, a U.S. army intelligence analyst suspected of passing thousands of classified documents to WikiLeaks, is facing a court-martial on 22 charges including aiding the enemy and wrongfully causing intelligence to be published online.

Meanwhile, Assange has been holed up under house arrest for over a year, mostly at the English country mansion of a wealthy supporter.

He has made some unexpected career moves, including a guest appearance in an episode of the satirical U.S. animated series "The Simpsons" due to be aired on February 19.

In another TV first, Kremlin-funded station Russia Today announced last week that it had hired Assange to host a political talk show called "The World Tomorrow."

Adele's live comeback at February 12 Grammy Awards (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? British chart-topper Adele will make her live comeback at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles in just under two weeks, after being on vocal rest since throat surgery sidelined the singer late last year.

The 23-year-old singer tweeted the news to her fans, saying "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait, speak soon xx."

In a statement, Adele said she was "immensely proud to have been asked to perform" at music's biggest night on February 12 after a three-month hiatus on vocal rest.

It is "very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all," she said.

The two-time Grammy winner, whose second album "21" smashed chart records around the world last year, was forced to cancel U.S. tour dates in November 2011 when she underwent microsurgery in Boston to treat a benign polyp on her vocal cords which was causing recurrent bleeding.

Appearing with her at the 54th Grammy Awards show will be top acts including Coldplay, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

Adele is also expected to perform at the BRIT Awards, Britain's top music accolades, in London on February 21.

The sultry singer has been nominated for six Grammys this year -- record of the year, song of the year and best short form music video for "Rolling In The Deep," album of the year and best pop vocal album for "21" and best pop solo performance for "Someone Like You."

"21" has made record history by becoming the first album since 1993 to surpass 17 weeks at the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart, and it joined a list of just nine albums to score two No. 1 singles on Billboard Hot 100 songs chart while sitting atop the album chart.
