Queens Party Interrupted By House Collapse, 2 Hospitalized ? CBS ...

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) ?? New York City has issued a full vacate order for a three-story Queens house after the third floor collapsed.

A spokeswoman for the city Department of Buildings says the cause of the Saturday night collapse is under investigation.

The Fire Department says a dozen people were injured when the floor fell during a party.

Two people were hospitalized, one with serious injuries. Ten people refused medical attention. One person was trapped and had to be extracted.

The buildings department says the private home was constructed in 2005. The agency said it has no records of any complaints about the house.

George O?Leary works in construction and says he?s been nervous since the two-family house went up about 10 years ago.

?In the business for 25, 35 years, you don?t just build a house this quick,? he told WCBS 880?s Alex Silverman.

And well before the rowdy party that partially pancaked the third floor onto the second, O?Leary?s mother had noticed.

?That?s caving in up there. I was going to call 3-1-1 several times,? she said.
